I have just run off a personal credit report and was astonished to see that I have poor credit even tho I was under the impression that mine was good-excellent!
I was sure I was on the electoral roll, but I haven’t been since I moved into my property in June 07.. I have now downloaded the form to complete and send off to
my local council! The electoral roll is used as a form of ‘trust’ something I can relate to.
I had a credit agreement that was settled in full last year is showing on my report as a default! A quick call made to the finance company and it has now been rectified however, If I had not run a report, or called the so called creditor, this ultimately might have contributed towards a higher interest rate been given on my mortgage.
Equally last year I asked for a repayment date to be moved from the 23rd to the 1st of every month. The following month I received a late payment notification! I called to verify and it was an error on their end. The additional interest was credited and the agreement continued as per normal however, I am really annoyed to see that it has been logged on credit history as a late payment.. I will call and get this rectified today..
Experian are running free credit reports at the moment however, you do have to pay around £6 to retrieve your credit score. Like anything successful online, the best sites give a little to get a little back..
Also in order to retrieve your free credit report, you need to take on membership. Something which then needs to be cancelled if your not to incur a monthly charge. I can see how they make thousands of pounds from visitors who just forget to cancel their agreements.
Anyhoo.. That’s my rant for the day.. 2009 resolution for Feb is to sort out my credit rating so in review in May 09, my credit should be nothing less than excellent.
